Hallel and Haggadah: Passover and Thanksgiving

The original 4 sons
Ex 12: When your children ask, what is this service for? You will say it
is the sacrifice of Pesach... And the people bowed. (midrash Mechilta:
It teaches that one who hears these miracles must praise...
Ex. 13: And when your son will ask, what is this? You will say to him,
with a great hand the L-d took us out...the L-d killed all the
firstborn.. therefore I offer all my firstborn...

The original Haggadah
You shall come to the Cohen..and you will say, I have told (you shall
tell your son=Haggadah) today that I have come to the land... (Targum
Yerushalmi: I praise and glorify today)... I have brought my fruits, and
you shall bow down  and you shall rejoice.

The mitzva of Haggadah for first fruits
Rambam mitzva  132: to tell of His kindnesses, and how he saved us and to thank  the L-d for this and to ask that he continue to give us
blessing...

The mitzva of Haggadah on Pesach
Rambam mitzva 157: to tell the story of the exodus.. and whatever one
can add to tell this story and magnifying what they did to us and how
Hashem avenged us, and to praise Him for the kindness, the better...
Avudraham: Haggadah means praise and thanksgiving

Rav: Why were the  angels forbidden to sing song at the splitting of the
sea? Because the work of G-d's hands was drowning? Why could the Jews sing a song? Because they were the beneficiaries. Their song was spontaneous.

Lefichach prayer, Therefore we have to praise...
Shibalei haleket: this is in place of she-asa nissim..
since it is as if we went out, therefore we are obligated to sing
songs.. (orchot chaim)

Mtchil begnut umsayem bishvach, one should start with the good and end with shevach
Tashbatz: with praise.

Why  is hallel split? Why is there no beracha? Why is hallel split this way?
Rav: As the amida begins with praise and ends with petition, so the
praise part is before meal and after meal is eschatological. The Hallel
of shira has no beracha.

What is the hallel for?
Brestlaver: It is for the slavery and the freedom. Through the slavery I
could reach even higher...

Talmud Pesachim 116a:
R. Nachman said to Daro his slvae: A slave whose master lets him free
and gave him gold and silver, what should he do for him? He said: He
should praise ahim and extol him. He said, You have exempted us from
saying Mah nishtanah

Maybe this hallel is just the hallel said over the korban pesach, not a
prayer hallel...
